Great Sand Dunes National Park

Alamosa, Colorado

We had a wonderful visit to Great Sand Dunes National Park in Alamosa, Colorado. We went sand sledding and hiking on the Great Sand Dunes with their dogs, Ginger and Mary Ann, while looking at Mount Blanca in the background.

Stopping by the nearest town, we also did our first self-guided food tour in Alamosa at San Luis Valley Brewing Company, Calvillo’s Mexican Restaurant, and the Rubi Slipper Bar and Grill. We especially enjoyed the Gosar Family Sausage, which is a fifth generation natural foods producer in the San Luis Valley.

The week ends with John going for a run along the Rio Grande River and talking about the success of the Adams State University Cross Country program.

Stay tuned for the end when John gets a most impressive running challenge from our grandson.

Be sure to visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park and make a stop by Alamosa for some great food and running history.
