Major Attractions
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is one of the most famous tourist spots in the country and is located along the border of the United States and Canada. The park has three waterfalls, and Horseshoe Falls is the tallest among them. The park also has an observation tower from where you can get a panoramic view of all the waterfalls. We thought crossing to Canada offered a better view, so bring your passport!
Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is usually on the top of every tourist’s list. The statue has a cultural and historical significance as it is seen as a sign of freedom. It was built in 1886 and is one of the largest statues in the world. You can stroll around the base of the statue or go to the Immigration Museum on Ellis Island and learn about thousands of immigrants that have been processed before entering the country.
Central Park
Another popular spot in New York is Central Park which allows the locals to enjoy a bit of nature in the city hustle. You can walk, peddle, or even take a carriage ride through the pathways. In winter, the Wollman Rink is crowded with skaters. It is also one of the few inexpensive things you can do in an expensive city like New York. There are also many attractions within the park that you can visit for free.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
Metropolitan Museum of Art, most commonly known as the Met, is one of the most famous art museums in the world. Located in New York, the museum was founded in 1870 and contains around two million works of art, some thousands of years old. The museum has three sites, but The Met Fifth Avenue is the most popular one as it contains Egyptian art, musical instruments, American decorative arts, and much more.
Empire State Building
Empire State Building is a significant landmark in the country and used to be the tallest building in the world for 40 years until the construction of the World Trade Center. The building was opened in the 1930s and had two observatories and an open-air observation deck that offers stunning views of the city’s skyline. On clear days, you can even look into the neighboring states!
