This week we took the Amtrak Auto Train from DC to Orlando. It was our first overnight train. We were so surprised by the trip. Tune in tomorrow as we give a review and information about whether you should consider this rail adventure in your travel plans.

We've been visiting our twin daughters in Louisville, Kentucky, and we just had to visit The Big Four Bridge for an evening walk. It is one of our favorite spots in the city and was originally built as a railroad bridge. The old structure has been transformed into a pedestrian walkway that connects Louisville to Jeffersonville, Indiana. We had beautiful views of the river and the city skyline, especially at sunset. It even lights up at night with colorful LED lights. If you find yourself in Louisville, be sure to check this out.

Welcome to the world of boys and Rainbow Trout! Summer doesn't get much better than this. We've had a great week fishing the Little Red River near Heber Springs, Arkansas, with our three grandsons and two granddaughters. Bev's mom joined us, along with our son and daughter-in-law. We swam, visited a cave, and ate way too much. We're off to see the other three grandchildren today!

San Miguel de Allende, a city that has captured our hearts, is a unique gem in the world. Located about four hours northwest of Mexico City and perched at 6200’ elevation, it exudes a vibrant, colonial-style charm with its bustling markets and abundant artisans. The city boasts many top-notch restaurants, each offering a unique experience that we eagerly savored.
When you add to this mix the great weather, a downtown area that's a joy to explore on foot, and the distinction of being one of the safest cities in Mexico, it's no wonder that San Miguel de Allende is a top choice for many expats worldwide.

We are loving our time in Mexico!!! 🇲🇽❤️🌮 Mexico City has SO much to offer! Besides the incredible food and friendly people, there are some great day trips like Teotihuacán. It was the largest city in pre-Columbian America and is only 25 miles northeast of Mexico City. Pictured behind us is the "Pyramid of the Sun", but unfortunately you can no longer climb to the top (like we did in 2019) for conservation reasons. This place is still a must visit when going to Mexico City. Stay tuned as we next share one of our new favorite cities in the world.

We celebrated our granddaughter's first visit abroad as we met up with our daughter and her family in Spain. We visited Madrid, Segovia, and Barcelona. We ate delicious tapas, indulged in chocolate, visited castles and aqueducts, rode the high-speed Spanish trains, toured the Sagrada Família, and witnessed our first Formula 1 race near Barcelona. It was a great introduction to world travel for one of our future "Retirement Travelers." We had two serendipitous meetups, one with Cindy, our friend from Florida, and a group of enthusiastic young women who insisted that Bev was "famous." We just completed our West African Oceania Cruise from Cape Town to Lisbon, stopping in 12 countries. We loved our time on the cruise, and it was made even better by joining up with friends, David & Judith @ruchroamings (also full-time travelers, so follow them on Instagram too!), and Wade & Donna, friends we made in the South Pacific. We will always remember this journey as one of our best because these lovely people filled our hearts with joy and laughter.

We have seen some incredible places on this cruise up the western coast of Africa. We started in Cape Town and have worked our way up the coast all the way to the country of Cape Verde. This group of 10 volcanic islands lies about 350 miles off the coast of Senegal and has many stunning landscapes, like this one.
