We began our retirement travel adventures in Antigua in a very unexpected way. After heading into town for a tour, when a friendly tuk-tuk driver convinced us to head to the top of a mountain because it was a clear day. We picked up a friendly hitchhiker on our way up the mountain from Antigua Guatemala in our tuk-tuk. He was a delightful young man and we enjoyed visiting with him at Hobitenango and eating some pizza on the trip back down the mountain. He was so thankful for getting to join us and, he appreciated the ride and the lunch. Making new friends and learning new cultures is the best part of travel, and it creates memories that we will never forget.

We made new friends in Antigua, in addition, we also tried as much of the street food as possible. Guatemalan cuisine is delicious and the street vendors take great pride in delivering some great treats. Near the center of town, there is a large area of vendors that sell street food. Be sure to check out that video short as we sample some local foods.
