We lived near the Canadian border for several years in upstate New York. Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, was a frequent weekend trip for us for many reasons, including the great selection of restaurants. It has an excellent restaurant scene due to its diverse population, proximity to local farms, and a focus on food culture. As a government hub with a mix of international residents, the restaurants reflect many global foods. Additionally, Ottawa’s cultural events and festivals often spotlight food, which enhances the city’s reputation as a culinary destination.
